| Are some of those foreign bands? Because I don't recognize some of those names and they don't sound like their in English. Also Bodom rocks. One of my friends recently turned me on to them about a couple months ago. And I'm digging that sweeping in the beginning of that Agonist song. | |

| Quo Vadis is Spanish technical/progressive metal. Meshuggah is Swedish death/progressive metal. I love Bodom too! The sweeping in Business Suits & Combat Boots is impossible for me to do. After a year of playing guitar, i'm still not very good. I'm probably going to be a metal vocalist in a few years. | |

| Yup. My clean vocals are already really good. I sang in a choir for three years & I have been singing on my own for a year. For metal growls, there is a band called Opeth. They have a really good technique for growling. I'm going to follow their style. I'm not into the screamo vocals, those are lame & are too easy to do. I'm into the real vocals. My friends have been helping me & i'm getting better at it. | |

| They are brutal but i would prefer them as just instrumentals. Personally i cant stand metal vocals. Good luck though, if you make it big however don't expect me to come to one of your gigs. | |

| Metal vocals are an acquired taste & i'm an exotic flavor. I love different, edgy things. I still like opera vocals as much as I like metal vocals. I can sing any style of music. It's not like i'm all metal all of the time. | |

| No I didn't think so because all of the metal vocalists at my school are talented singers. One of them passed her grade 8 singing exam with merit and sings disney songs when she isnt singing anything else. I am sure that you're not to different. But metal vocals just aren't my thing, nor is puff the magic dragon. Bad comparison i know | |

| Yup. Metal is my passion though, and i'm going to stick to it. I sung in a choir for three years. I've been singing on my own for a year. | |

| Your lucky you can sing well... Dude, where's your singer? That and Dude, where's your drummer? (We have had about four different drummers and are on our fifth... I think I've said this before.) Have been the story of my band for the past three years. The other guitarist in my band (Him and I play the guitar.) has recently taken up lead vocals.... But he cannot sing good.... At all. The thing is though... He thinks he can sing well. So we're going to have trouble breaking the news to him. However we did recently get a new drummer. But... He just started, and it's going to take him a while to get on par with the two other band members and me. Also, don't be sad that your not very good at guitar yet. After my first year I still sucked big time. It was only around the second year of playing that I began to shape up. However the other guitarist (and bassist) of my band are total naturals at their instruments and are amazing. So I've always been a little behind them in terms of skill. (Although our other guitarist has been playing a whole year longer than me.) | |

| Well, if you're interested in making something of your band, I could sing vocals. I'm going to visit my family for 19 days next month. | |

| I'll ask everyone in the band about it. We play mostly alternative stuff, with hints of hard rock and punk thrown into the mix. | |

| Alright. I think you guys should try progressive metal. It's one of the most popular music genres out there. | |

| Thats exactly why we don't do progressive metal. Almost 2/3rds of the bands at our school play metal. We want to be original. And Storm... Linkin Park is alternative rock. (Especially their new stuff.) And one could argue that the Offspring is alternative. Although they are usually classified as punk. (But they don't sound very punk to me.) | |

| Woops! I read your post wrong Storm. I thought you ment that you listened to music close to Alternative but you never went so far as to listen to Alternative. And, yeah we're looking for Foo Fighters-Nirvanaish kind of vocals. Maybe sort of Green Day and Chili Peppersish also. | |

| Green Day vocals are awful. I'm going to stick with Nirvana kind of vocals. I think it would be cool if you played one metal song or at least wrote a riff for one. | |

| Billie Joe isn't the best singer. But I do love his voice. I'm a huge Green Day fan. (Even though a lot of people hate them nowadays.) We do have one metalish song though. It's got a nice riff to it and a cool guitar solo. But I think the Intro to it (our 'singer' wrote this song,) is to much like 'Slither' by Velvet Revolver. It's almost the exact same rhythm and cord progression. It's just played with heavier cords. | |

| Sorry, but Green Day has no talent. I have a lot of gruesome lyrics written that would be perfect for a metal song. | |
