History: Goku gained this from his Grandpa Gohan. The Pole has magical powers so it can extend itself. Goku has used it in many battles mainly when he was a kid. He also used it to break his fall many times, and also he can use it to get to some very high places, like when Goku climbed up from Korrin's Tower to Kami's Lookout. But later in Dragon Ball Z Goku finally stops using the power pole much.
